10 FUN FACTS YOU DIDN’T KNEW ABOUT FANTA

We know that Fanta is a symbol of fun, precious moments of playing with friends and the biggest “multiflavor” brand in the world. But what are the less-known facts that build the story of Fanta in more than 190 countries?

  1. The beginnings of the Fanta were in the early 40’s of the 20th century in Germany, but the modern Fanta Orange originated in the Italian city of Naples in 1955. It was prepared using local citrus ingredients, and it was produced and sold by Coca-Cola Export Corporation.
  2. Fanta is Coca-Cola’s second-oldest brand and the second-largest brand outside the United States.
  3. The name “Fanta” comes from the word “Fantasie”, which means imagination. There are some variations for the name, as in Panama, where it is called Kist.
  4. Industrial designer Raymond Loewy submitted 25 or 30 designs for the Fanta bottle itself and for the logo. The ringed bottle, bearing a Loewy “twin-peak” logo design on the shoulder, was chosen.
  5. Fanta quickly spread to other markets including South Africa and the United States. Today, Fanta is available in more than 190 countries.
  6. In 1969, The orange-tasting fantasy was the biggest-selling flavour in the world and with the slogan “So good, it’s fun to be thirsty” begins to position itself, using art, as a picturesque brand of various colors.
  7. 1979г. in accordance with the strategy for global expansion, Fanta began selling in the Soviet Union.
  8. For a long time Costa Rica had an exclusive Fanta flavor, Kolita. It was particularly popular in Central America in the 1980s and 1990s. Kolita is still available in Costa Rica.
  9. Between 2000 and 2008г. Fanta enters the domain of the “Plays” and “Playful Fantasy” of teenagers, calling them to be creative, spontaneous and not so serious. In that direction, the “Fantanas” campaign in the United States was launched.
  10. Between 2008 and 2014г. a new direction in the communication of the Fanta brand appears with the inclusion of animated characters that have been developing over the years.
