SKOPSKO SMOOTH REVEALS THE LAST FRESHEST ESCAPE DESTINATION IN MACEDONIA
The adventure of SKOPSKO Smooth and No Man’s Land has brought us to the last destination of the #FreshAs series, at a spot which radiates with enchanting history and scenic views. This time around, we have climbed at height of 2076 meters above sea level, to explore the Carev Vrv peak on the Osogovo Mountains. Before checking out the last video created in this cooperation, let us remind you of the four previous videos we have created together: Staravina, Podgorechko Lake, Krushevo and Koleshino Waterfall. And, here is what we heard about the fifth freshest spot in Macedonia:
How many times have we been surprised by different places all around Macedonia, which were a complete mystery to us until discovering them… and how many times have such searches led us to surreal landscapes which are undoubtedly reminiscent of different parts of our planet, which we have been lucky enough to visit or just dreamed of visiting whenever gazing at a beautiful photo.
Our escapades around Macedonia stared back in October 2018, spontaneously, on Ilinska Mountain. The idea and the concept of the blog were both born as one, as a way of sharing the enjoyment of hiking, all the way to the Treskavec Monastery in February 2019. The blog was officially launched 11 months later, on the 19th of January, 2020.
Our memories are filled with many unexpected discoveries all around Macedonia, with hundreds of photo albums filled with thousands of photos and endless lines all packed in this blog, and even now, we can still see all those mountains and peaks, all those places and the people we had the privilege of meeting during our trips. As if it all happened just yesterday…
The team behind SKOPSKO SMOOTH has been impressed by our presence in the virtual space of social media in the past months, so it has decided to create a campaign together with No Man’s Land. Firstly, it sounded like a true challenge, but as it turned out, it was the right moment to show that this cooperation is far from a mere commercialization, and yet, to prove that it is a synergy of two things reminding us all of beautiful things… the one of freshness, the other one of traveling dreams from this geographically close circle. This is the last post produced from this cooperation, which is really close to our hearts, about the process in which they were doing the thinking and we were in charge of inspiring them.
Carev Vrv was our choice for enjoying a can of SKOPSKO SMOOTH to mark the end of the fall, which slowly, but surely turned into winter that very day.
The meeting with this peak is yet another confirmation in the series of impressions that adventure and enjoyment in nature do not necessarily require remote or famous destinations.
This peak is mystery, this peak is poetry, this peak is a witness of distant history… history of borders, of separations, of war and of peace… a reminder of how little and insignificant we are in the midst of the immenseness of our Universe:
Homo parvus, natura inmensa est.
The buildings welcoming you here once served as military facilities during the infamous Balkan Wars. Their entrances open up a completely different outlook on life, distant from the one we are all accustomed to in the hustle and bustle of everyday city life. Thinking that life is grinding us away, but that cannot be further from the truth… Here, someone’s ancestors have lived once, writing letters to their families, friends… and certainly, writing secret love letters.
They have dreamt… they have grieved… but they certainly never gave up on believing that kindness will once rule the world. Some day…
Today, many decades later… a sense of unsaid words fills up the space. Today, the space is deprived of any form of physical presence, which is maybe a good thing, thus avoiding any kind of negative impact on this breathtaking and bare landscape.
The east part of Macedonia is rich in forests stretching in the foothills of the majestic mountains; forests reminiscent of primordial rainforests on European soil. And, their peaks are bare and rounded… and when the fall arrives, those low-lying lush forests hiding centennial oak and beech trees, create a true and unique fairytale. If you are lucky enough to be graced with clouds by the sky, then, you are probably among the luckiest people in the world. We certainly felt that way…
In fall, this mountain trail transforms in a soft carpet made of dry leaves. Besides us, there was not a living soul walking down this trail, so the sounds of nature were the only melody disturbing the peace.
The peak offers a fantastic falcon panoramic view of a mountainous massive and a chain of sleeping valleys. A view that can only be seen, and not told. The horizon reveals mountain ranges bathing in autumn splendor, giving you the impression that you can touch them… but you cannot.
This is a long trail… longer than 20 km. And imagine, the trails to other peaks must be much longer…
This late fall, if you decide to climb a mountain, let it be the Osogovo mountain massive.. and out of all peaks, we recommend you climb Carev Vrv.
Just because we have never seen, on any of Macedonia’s majestic mountains, a fall that is more beautiful and a peak that is more mystical than the one we have seen here, so far… And do not forget to grab and can or two of SKOPSKO SMOOTH, as the wind blowing here will chill it till perfection for your genuine enjoyment.
