OHRID HAS JOINED THE BIG COCA-COLA ACTIVE ZONES PROJECT
The city of Ohrid hosted the opening of the fourth Coca-Cola Active Zone in Macedonia, and has joined the big Pivara Skopje and The Coca-Cola Company’s project
which is being implemented in several municipalities throughout the country, in close cooperation with the local authorities and the Fun Football Schools Organisation.
The Ohrid Active Zone is located within the Holandski Park and is designed to be an outdoor fitness zone, equipped with the top-of-the-line fitness equipment, made available 24/7 to all citizens, completely free of charge.
“The Coca-Cola Active Zones is a big project which is undoubtedly a result of the successful cooperation between Pivara Skopje and The Coca-Cola Company on one side, and the local authorities, on the other. The main objective of the project is actually the donation made by Pivara Skopje and The Coca-Cola Company of setting up outdoor fitness and recreation zones, with a single objective of motivating our fellow citizens to enjoy healthy and active lifestyle more often. So far, this particular project has been implemented in three municipalities throughout the country, and today, we are proud to be here for the opening of the fourth Coca-Cola Active Zone, located in Ohrid, one of the most beautiful cities in the Republic of Macedonia. By the end of this year, we are planning to open one more active zone which will be located in the Municipality of Prilep, but we will certainly not stop there and we are planning to expand the project of Active Zones to include even more municipalities throughout the country in the years to come. Active lifestyle is the key to the good health of citizens and the overall advancement of our society, and therefore Pivara Skopje and The Coca-Cola Company will stay focused on implementing this type of projects in the future”- said Mr. Lambro Patche, Public Affairs and Communications Manager at Pivara Skopje.
“The Municipality of Ohrid, Pivara Skopje and The Coca-Cola Company have long common history and tradition, and have worked on the successful implementation of numerous projects focused on citizens. We are deeply pleased to be participating in this project as well, since our municipality is among the first five municipalities in Macedonia that will get Active Zones. This project, which will give Ohrid an outdoor fitness zone available to all citizens, is extremely important in the long run, because it will help encourage citizens to be more physically active, thus having direct positive impact on the overall healthy lifestyle of citizens. We are grateful to both Pivara Skopje and The Coca-Cola Company for this donation, since the benefit of this project is very important to all of us.” – said Mr. Nikola P. Bakracheski, Mayor of Ohrid.
This project is part of Coca-Cola’s global platform aimed at promoting active lifestyle as a basis for creating healthy habits in all citizens. By the end of the summer, in addition to Gazi Baba, Strumica, Tetovo and Ohrid, the Municipality of Prilep will also get an Active Zone.
