PIVARA SKOPJE SUPPORTING THE INTERNATIONAL BEACH VOLLEYBALL TOURNAMENT

Active Life

At the very beginning, let me give a little challenge to all of you. Just spend a few minutes to check the online lists of five world’s most popular sports by fans online list. You will probably stumble upon many online lists of this type, but they all have something more or less in common. These are the sports by order of popularity, which are mostly found in such lists: 1) football, 2) cricket, 3) field hockey, 4) tennis and 5) volleyball. Yes, I believe that it may come as a great surprise: volleyball is ranking much higher than basketball, hockey and American football. Now, all of you sports fans have bunch of things to talk about.

The story of beach volleyball began back in 1920 on the sandy beaches of California, and first it was seen as a great fun. Later on, the popularity of this sport continued growing up until 1996, when it officially became part of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta, the birthplace of The Coca-Cola Company.

When talking about mutual complementing with the aim of achieving common goals, beach volleyball is definitely a classic example of a sport based on building team spirit. Beach volleyball is a team sport played by two teams, each composed of two players. Pursuant to the rules, players have to keep playing throughout the match, since substitutions are not allowed in beach volleyball, which greatly affects their skills for active contribution and anticipation of the game in a much higher extent compared to traditional, indoor volleyball which has 6 players. In other words, in the case of beach volleyball, the game is concentrated two on two. And yes, needless to say that there is no place to hide on this court. The very same players cover the entire court. The very same players cover the entire court. And you will probably agree that playing beach volleyball is a great workout.

The majority of beach volleyball coaches would agree that players exposed to outside weather conditions, such as intensive heat, wind, and hot sand, see their physical capacities significantly improved compared to indoor volleyball players. At the end, we have to mention that beach volleyball is a pretty active sport.

Physical activity promotion is an important segment of the activities of Pivara Skopje’s ambassadors for the purpose of creating healthy lifestyle routines. Regular sporting activities are a great way to maintain proper energy balance. Nowadays, many people lead sedentary way of life and it is our goal to promote the importance of regular physical activity and sports.

On September 2, 2016, the Seventh International Beach Volleyball Tournament and the First European Satellite Tournament “Satellite Skopje 2016” started officially on the two beach volleyball courts located on the Park City beach. This year, the tournament was attended by the most renowned European volleyball players from 30 teams in women’s competition coming from 15 countries. The Tournament was organized by the City of Skopje and Macedonian National Volleyball Federation. Pivara Skopje provided its valuable contribution, providing financial assistance and beverages within the frame of the healthy lifestyle and active lifestyle platform.

We are proud that Simon Djines, Pivara Skopje’s employee and member of Strumica sales team, was directly involved in the organization of the Tournament in the capacity of a delegate, providing significant contribution by dedicating his free time to the community we operate in.

From today’s perspective, we can state that this Tournament is an excellent example for the great partnership and cooperation between the business sector, the City of Skopje, the National Volleyball Federation and the Agency for Youth and Sports in the direction of promoting the importance of physical activity, team spirit, fair play, fun and companionship.

The tradition we have built in supporting sports is of great importance for Pivara Skopje since it helps us demonstrate our sincere intentions and constant dedication towards building true values in the community we belong to. Our support will continue throughout the year to come.
