HOW TO BE ECO-RESPONSIBLE THIS SUMMER?

Summer is on the doorstep, which means that in the next few months the weekends and days off will be filled with planned trips, fun and various adventures. It’s an opportunity to spend more time in nature, but we have to keep it clean, and be careful how we behave while outdoors. As you soak up the summer sun in the open air, try to reduce the amount of waste you produce, save resources and keep nature healthy and clean by following Pakomak’s eco-tips.

When you go on a trip

The plan is made: the clothes and gadgets are packed, the car is ready and tomorrow you go on a day trip. Remember to bring water and food, but try not to buy anything you do not need. Use reusable bottles that you can take home after an outing instead of buying new ones, whose plastic packaging is a waste in the announcement. Lastly, perhaps the most important thing – carry large bags in which you will collect the garbage that you will create while you are outdoors, so that you can then leave it in the nearest container.

When throwing a home party

Home parties can be the funniest part of the summer, especially if you live in a house with a spacious backyard where you can gather more friends outdoors. Have a barbecue party and a drink, but warn the company that while the party is going on – everyone throws their trash in the bin. You can even set up a special bin where attendees can dispose of recyclable waste. To avoid buying plastic utensils and cups again, try to use the utensils you already have at home. You and your friends need to be more careful not to break a plate or cup, as this may result in more than ten minutes being spent over the kitchen sink while washing all the dishes, but you will feel countless times better knowing that you are not creating waste which did not have to be created.

When you are at the local pool or at the beach

The pools are being prepared for opening, and the beaches are already receiving their first visitors of the summer season. As with any outdoor activity, visiting the pool, especially the beach, should be done responsibly. For starters, be careful when choosing mattresses, toys and tires for swimming. Most of them are made of PVC, a non-recyclable material, so try to avoid them. If you already have to buy or own PVC products, be careful where they end up in case of damage. Such waste must end up in the bin, as left in nature can release harmful chemicals that are harmful to human health. It is also advisable to carry paper bags to put the food and drinks you bring with you, as well as a few plastic bags in which you’ll put the trash you will make while you are there.

Reuse, Select and Recycle!

The greatest chance you give to nature to stay clean and healthy is if you treat it responsibly. Therefore, an important rule and constant mantra should be “Recycle, recycle, recycle!”. Pakomak invites you to dispose of the waste you generate in the appropriate container so that it can end up where it should. All recyclable waste is usually marked with a recycling sign and should end up in one of Pakomak colored containers that signal the three types of recyclable waste: green (glass), blue (paper) and yellow (plastic and cans). The more often you dispose of waste, the more natural resources you can save. Therefore, act responsibly and recycle!
