In the surroundings
To act ecologically on a personal plan, in our everyday life, in the frames of our households is not difficult at all. The only thing you need to do are new decisions about new, practical, environmental habits. As committed, ecologically-conscious individuals you can easily organize your consumer habits, the garbage you make and the ways you select it. Be an initiator and environmental activist among the members of your family, so that you will offer small “reforms” in the everyday family habits. Here are some practical tips in addition:
Use textile bags when you go shopping. Keep textile shopping-bags in the car, at a quick reach in your home or some nice folded bag in your bag. In this way you will bypass the plastic bags that are piling up in the kitchen under the sink. Place another garbage bin in your home, that will separate the garbage for recycling from the rest, and then throw it in bins placed and marked for appropriate material.
In the community
Be a good example of what you want others to follow. Expand your community eco-acting. Maybe you will face resistance and several exhales, but in the end, everyone will be happy for your contribution. Here are some ideas for your eco-mission:
Suggest a fun social meeting with neighbors over the weekend and cleaning the waste of the green space around your own building, entrance and basements. Place the item for collecting paper and a selection point of plastic for recycling. Activate children and adults in a small ecological action, then do a picnic – socializing in a clean environment. As a student or a parent, the big changes in the school community can seem impossible. Even if you are far from reality, do not discourage. Use the world days for celebration such as: Earth Day, Day of the tree or other ecologically important days in the calendar, to suggest ecological action that will later become a practice. Suggest clearing of the classroom. Students spend an average of 8 hours daily in a room where there is a lot of dust you do not notice, old paper and even moldy items. Carefully select the collected waste and throw it in special containers that are set in your school yard. Establish an ecological club of volunteers who will be active in the following environmental actions in the school community.
At а concert or event
Have you ever seen a stadium after completing a concert or sports competition? The space looks like film post-apocalyptic scenario set. If you are organizing an event, make an electronic promotion and send electronic invitations. This way you save a lot of paper and electronic media are great for economical and effective promotion today. Make recycling to be easy and beneficial for all. Set up clearly marked points for collecting recycling materials. Carefully select the location where visitors will easily arrive with city bus or bike. Call everyone who are capable to do it, providing parking space and safety for the bicycles. If you are a visitor to the event, do your best to respect the efforts of the organizer for all planned environmental activities. Follow the marked zones for waste. Leave behind just the good impression from the concert or sports competition, instead of heap of a waste.
