WHAT MATERIALS ARE RECYCLABLE?

Remember, recycling is a way to turn used items into new ones. Recycling has been around for some time (since the 1970s) and we all know that adding new use value to items prevents them from ending up at landfills, all of which contribute to the protection of the environment that is our home.

However, not all items can be recycled (yet) and for now it is important to know that the five main categories of household waste that can be recycled are: glass, metal, paper, plastic and textiles.

Recycling also contributes to the conservation of natural resources, the creation of healthier breathing air and cleaner drinking water.

In order for the items to be recyclable, they must first be selected in appropriate containers. Sorting is as easy as throwing items in the trash, except that items disposed of as waste in appropriate containers are then recycled and processed into something new. Recyclable items aim to become new packaging and new products. When your items are recycled, greenhouse gases are reduced, natural resources are saved and landfill space is reduced.

The packaging labels of many of the items we use on a daily basis are marked with recycling symbols that help us identify how the appropriate types of packaging can be recycled.

Accepted as an international label for recycling which means that the material can be processed / recycled;

International trademark for recyclable plastic packaging.
Below the symbol is an abbreviation of the chemical compound from which the packaging is made, while inside the loop of the symbol is the numerical designation. The number inside the loop indicates how dangerous the plastic from which the packaging is made is.

Recycling packaging.
This symbol is a call to action to recycle as much as possible.
The symbol is found on most recyclable products.

With this symbol, the manufacturer encourages the consumer to take care of the environment and informs him to throw the empty packaging in the places provided for that purpose. The symbol encourages conscientious behavior, preservation and protection of the environment.

This is a European symbol with which manufacturers and / or suppliers inform customers that they have contributed financially and participated in the recycling of the packaging of the product on which the symbol is printed. It does NOT necessarily mean that the packaging can be recycled.

The crossed-out trash can symbol on your product indicates that this product must be stored separately until the end of its useful life. Products bearing this mark should not be disposed of as unsorted municipal waste, but should be disposed of in specific locations. If a chemical symbol is printed under the label, it indicates that the product contains heavy metal (mercury, cadmium or lead) in a concentration above the acceptable limit.

This symbol reminds people to recycle their empty glass bottles and jars.

This symbol indicates that the packaging is made of organic material and will decompose naturally.

Waste sorting and recycling is not time consuming, it is not an additional cost and the benefits are immeasurable to protect our planet earth and enable a sustainable future and development for a better tomorrow for all future generations.

To recycle, we can all contribute!
