ACCEPTING NEW CHALLENGES AND SETTING HIGHER GOALS ARE MY BIGGEST MOTIVATION FOR PERSONAL AND CAREER GROWTH
At the height of the global pandemic, there was a big change in the way businesses operate and the dynamics of life completely changed, so I started thinking about changing something in my daily life, says Djena Korumi, who has been part of the big Pivarci family for 6 months, as a business developer for Debar. Djena explains that every working day is different and is a story in itself – the faster we reach every customer and every object we work with and explore growth opportunities, the faster we can reach our goal. For all this, she receives great support from the team, but also from the quality trainings intended for the employees. According to Djena, in order to succeed, we need to be dedicated, persistent and to incorporate our passion in what we do, and this is where all our ideas will come from. After each working day, she relaxes with fitness, and the company with her family gives her energy for each new day.
- What did Djena dream of as a child, what will she be like when she grows up? Could you imagine a career in Sales?
When I was a child I dreamed that one day I would become a teacher. I initiated such games every day, I thought that this was my future profession, and I even continued my education in that direction, I studied general and comparative literature. Although I was convinced that one day that dream would come true, I started moving in a completely different direction professionally, and for more than 10 years I have been working in Sales.
- Tell us something more about your career so far? How does it feel, are you satisfied with the path you are following?
My first sales experience was with an American company based in Debar. The main activity of the company is sales and customer service. I worked for the company for about 10 years in virtually all positions from telephone sales agent to manager, and later I decided to move to a completely different position. I was hired as a Marketing and Sales Manager at another pellet stove factory, where I stayed for about two years. After this experience, I decided to take a different step in my career and join the team of Pivara Skopje. I simply found myself in the Sales department and am constantly trying to upgrade.
- Describe the moment when you realized that Skopje Brewery is the right place for you. Why did you decide to join the Pivarci team?
At the height of the global pandemic, there has been a major change in the way businesses operate. The dynamics of life changed completely, so I started thinking about changing something in my daily life. While searching the social media, I accidentally came across an ad at Pivara Skopje and without much thought I applied. Knowing that this is a great company that is constantly investing in the growth of its employees, I was looking forward to the response to my application.
I passed the tests and interviews very well and to my great satisfaction I got the job, which officially made me part of the big Pivarci family and for 6 months now I have been in the position of Business Developer for Debar.
- What does your day at work look like, what challenges do you face? What part of the workday is your favorite?
Like any other, working as a business developer has its challenges that we face every day in the field. Every working day is different, special and is a story in itself. In addition to the daily responsibilities of sales, merchandising, activations, there are also our customers, each with a different story. That’s my favorite part of the job. Every customer, every object we work with has its own soul, the faster we reach it and realize the opportunities for growth, the faster we can reach our goal.
- How does it feel to be involved in selling world-renowned brands and local brands that are number 1 on the market?
The real challenge is to work for Pivara Skopje. We work with the most popular brands globally and from the very beginning we need to set high goals, because that is what our customers expect from us. The work itself requires from us a certain dynamic, will to upgrade, following the world trends and practices and the faster we fit into that dynamics, the easier it will be to achieve the set goals.
- What motivates you to take on a new career challenge instead of staying in a comfort zone?
When we find ourselves in the comfort zone, we often find ourselves in a state of stagnation, not being productive as we once were, and not growing intellectually. Setting and accepting new challenges, setting higher goals as well as introducing new work practices are my biggest motivation for my personal and career growth and development.
- What does the Pivarci team offer you and how quickly did you manage to adapt to the new work atmosphere?
As a relatively new business developer I have to admit that I am still adapting to the work environment because I am constantly facing new challenges. I must mention that I get a lot of support from my Team Leader as well as from my colleagues. Their support greatly facilitated my adaptation process and helped me to feel welcome in the company from the very beginning.
- How much does Pivara Skopje help you gain new knowledge and skills and achieve your professional goals?
Pivara Skopje really gives great focus to the growth of its employees. I am really positively surprised by the quality and number of trainings that are organized for us, the employees. The trainings are really innovative and offer modern solutions to all the challenges we face every day.
- What values do you think everyone should apply in order to be successful?
To be successful we need to be committed, to love what we do, to take enough time, to bring our passion into what we do, and from here all our ideas will emerge. And the most important thing – persistence, if we are persistent, we will surely succeed.
- How do you spend your free time? What relaxes you after a challenging work day?
After every working day I relax with fitness. I have been practicing actively for a year and a half, 6 days a week. Fitness has become my way of life and I can not imagine a day without training.
When I have time I allow myself a walk with my friends or a visit to an interesting location. I spend most of my free time with my family, from where I draw energy for each new day.
