PIVARA SKOPJE RECEIVED RECOGNITION FOR CONTRIBUTION TO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT GOALS

Following the award for “Leaders of Sustainable Development Goals” in 2019, this recognition confirms the leadership role of Pivara Skopje in achieving the global sustainable development goals, which the company achieves continuously through everyday operations, as well as through the implementation of a number of socially responsible platforms in areas such as: education and youth development, clean environment and protection of water resources, developing health and well-being by promoting an active lifestyle, moderate and responsible alcohol consumption, promoting gender equality and other areas that improve the quality of life of people and the community.

For Pivara Skopje as one of the founders of Pakomak and among the biggest investors in this company, it is especially important that this year Pakomak won the award “Leaders of Goals for Sustainable Development”.

At the same time, the recognition emphasizes the long-term and strategic approach of Pivara Skopje towards sustainable development, as well as the company’s commitment to include a vast number of partner companies, institutions, civil society organizations and individuals in its projects, as well as its employees and management members, thus promoting volunteering as a special form of socially responsible action.

The award ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of economic affairs, coordination of economic departments and investments, Fatmir Bitiki, the Permanent Coordinator of the United Nations in the country, Rosana Dudzak and the Executive Director of Konekt, Nikica Kusinikova. They stressed that for a change to take place, a real partnership is needed, and encouraged other companies and individuals to follow the example of companies and individuals who continuously work sustainably.

This recognition verifies the efforts of Pivara Skopje in the implementation of sustainability projects that have continued despite the great challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic- maintaining the highest quality products and providing assistance and support to all who needed it most in the wake of the pandemic, as well as intensive implementation of the projects for protection of the environment and water resources. An example of this is the activities for improvement of the packaging waste management system, where through partnership with Pakomak, the NGO sector and institutions, Pivara Skopje continuously exceed the set company and national targets for collection and treatment of this type of waste. Pivara Skopje also continued to provide free online training for young people helping them acquire new business and life skills, thus increasing their chances of employment.

For the results achieved in sustainable development, Pivara Skopje, together with the other members of the Coca-Cola HBC Group, won the first place in the European beverage industry in 2020 for the seventh time in the last eight years, according to the ranking conducted by the leading global business sustainability standard – The Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
