FIRST VENDING WASTE SELECTION MACHINES INTRODUCED IN “VERO”
Pivara Skopje is one step closer to our commitment for an sustainable future through the World Without Waste platform, in accordance with our Corporate sustainability goals for 2025 – to collect 75% of our packaging waste (PET packaging, cans, glass).
The first of the three waste collection machines on the territory of Skopje were promoted in “Vero Jumbo” shopping center, which will work with a special award system “green points” to anyone who landfills their waste in them. The remaining two machines are located in different locations, also in Vero markets chain.
This project is an example of an long year partnership: Industry, Government, Ministry of Environment, Chambers, Diplomatic core, Faculties, NGOs – and all standing, behind 1 common goal – “World Without Waste”.
Pivara Skopje in the role of a co-founder and the biggest financial supporter of PAKOMAK, in the past 2 years, gave full support to this strategic project for us and plan is to continue at an even stronger pace in the next few years.
At the promotion of the first vending machine placed in Skopje, in the shopping center “Vero Jumbo” besides our General Manager Goran Sladic, our National KA Manager Dusko Atanasovski – were also present the Minister of Environment, Naser Nuredini, the Dean of FEEIT Dimitar Tashkovski, Ambassador of Switzerland Sibil Zutter, Austrian Ambassador Georg Voutsas, Director of Vero Supermarkets Petar Denkovski, as well as representatives of other co-founding companies of Pakomak.
Return vending machines were developed by Pakomak, in collaboration with FEEIT and the State Innovation Fund. As a Macedonian product made by students, according to the needs of the local population, Pakomak return vending machines have a lower cost of production and maintenance, while at the same time the benefit of sorting through them is an incentive reward that will encourage citizens to sort their packaging waste more often.
The citizens of Skopje can use them to dispose packaging waste, and in return receive “green points” that they can use to buy products, get discounts from Vero, as well as to pay for municipal and public services.
