EDUCATION ON HEALTHY AND SAFE SCHOOL DAYS

Around 650 pupils from primary schools in the municipality Aerodrom acquired basic knowledge of health and safety in the school environment. This was the primary objective of the educational presentations that were delivered by employees of Pivara Skopje AD between 12 and 20 May within the company’s pilot project for expansion of knowledge acquired in the field of safety and health in the community.
Specifically, through the presentations, fourth grade pupils, in the presence of their teachers, had the opportunity of gaining knowledge and practical advice in an interactive and colorful way on: proper seating in the school bench, proper posture while writing and working on the computer, as well as preventing injuries caused by slipps, trips and falls, which are particularly important for the safety and proper physical development of children.
Besides presentations, educational materials such as posters, pencils and pocket books were provided, which should help transfer the key findings and recommendations for providing safe and healthy school days. The content of the presentations and educational materials are tailored to the age of the pupils. The Municipality Aerodorom is a partner in the realization of this  educational project.
“We are all aware that good habits are acquired at the younger age and they are extremely important for creating healthy generations that will be aware of the importance of health and safety in schools and later in the workplace. We are happy and proud to have had the opportunity to transfer our accumulated knowledge of safety and health in working environments to these children and we believe we contributed to the children developing greater awareness and concern for their own safety and health, as well as of everyone else in the school and outside,“ said Katerina Hadzi-Angeleska – Nachevska, PR specialist in Pivara Skopje.
Pivara Skopje AD has been investing in the health and safety of its employees and in educating them on various relevant topics in this area for years, which brought the company the National Award for best practices in the field of occupational safety and health this year. The company was among the pioneers in Macedonia in 2007 when it introduced and was successfully certified by the leading international occupational safety and health management standard – OHSAS 18.001.
