GALICHNIK WEDDING 2019: TRADITION AND CUSTOMS TRANSLATED INTO AN ATTRACTION

This year, the traditional cultural and stage event Galichnik Wedding will take place for the 46th time in the picturesque village of Galichnik on the slopes of Mount Bistra from July 12th to July 14th. Several thousand visitors from the country and abroad who are expected to attend this authentic event will again have the opportunity to enjoy the unique wedding customs and rituals, followed by the rich colorfulness of folk costumes and original songs and dances characteristic for these parts of Macedonia. At the center of attention of this year’s most famous Macedonian wedding will be the bride Marina Petrovska and the bridegroom Ognen Karagjozovski, who is originally from Galichnik.

“As organizers of this event, we are particularly pleased that this year too, in the best possible way, we continue the ancient tradition of the Mijaks as part of the Macedonian cultural treasure. Galichnik Wedding is a world-renowned and recognized cultural and tourist event that contributes to the promotion of our country and its beauties. This, as well as the increasing number of visitors, is an additional incentive for us to continue to extend every effort to maintain and constantly enrich it,” says Aleksandar Kostic of the organizing team of the local community Galichnik.

The support provided by the many partners and supporters is of vital importance for organizing and maintaining this authentic event. One of them is the company Pivara Skopje, which is a partner of the event since its beginnings and which, this year, in addition to the financial support, provided an adequate quantity of drinks from its portfolio for all participants in the wedding ceremony.

“We are proud that for 46 years we are continuously an inseparable part of this unique event that is a mirror of our rich tradition and cultural heritage. I would like to congratulate the newlyweds and raise our glasses to their love, happiness and prosperity, as well as to the friendship and unity that connect us and bring us together,” said Lambro Patche, Head of Public relations and communications at Pivara Skopje.

The patron of this year’s Galichnik Wedding is President Stevo Pendarovski.

As every year, the beginning of this year’s Galichnik Wedding will be on Saturday, July 13th, by placing the wedding banner and the symbolic act of firing three rifles from the groom’s house. The wedding of the newlyweds will be performed on Sunday at the church St. Apostle Peter and Paul in the village and the ceremony will end with the act of sending off the drummers and zurla players.

Traditionally, Galichnik Wedding will also mark the start of the Galichnik Cultural Summer, which is also expected to offer various entertainment and music content, adapted for all generations of visitors.

In order for all visitors to enjoy the beauty and authenticity of this year’s Galichnik Wedding, in the days of the event, especially on Sunday, a special traffic regime will be established, which organizers appeal to be adhered to meticulously.

The representative of Pivara Skopje joined this appeal and invited all visitors to drink alcohol responsibly, drive safely and take maximum care of maintaining the clean nature in Galichnik and its surroundings.
