COCA-COLA CUP 2015 WINNERS ANNOUNCED
The Rabotnichki stadium in the Skopje City Park hosted the great football finals of the Coca-Cola Cup. Boys and girls aged 12 to 16 years from all over Macedonia played in front of the large audience and their supporters in the final football matches. The best were awarded the deserved medals, but the winners today were all who demonstrated real sportsmanship. The Coca-Cola Cup is organized for the fourth year in a row by Pivara Skopje AD, the Coca-Cola Company, and the Open Fun Football Schools organization, in cooperation with the primary and secondary schools, and the municipalities.
The finals were preceded by matches played in the past two months with a record number of 2.000 students from 150 schools from 21 municipalities across the country. The main objective of the project is the creation of healthy living habits among young people through physical exercises and sport activities. The maintaining of a healthy balance of the energy input and consumption is a key factor for healthy and fulfilled life.
”Sports and regular physical activities represent an important part of the proper development in children. Today, a great number of young people spend their time in front of their computer, television, mobile phone, and spend less time outside by socializing with their friends. They are insufficiently active and thus have no opportunity to spend calories. More than 200 matches were played at the Coca-Cola Cup, and more than 2.000 children across the country were included. It is our joint objective for them to grow into healthy persons aware of the benefits from physical activity and the balance between the input and consumption of calories”, said Ceno Aleksandrovski, representative of the international non-governmental organization Open Fun Football Schools.
The Coca-Cola Cup brings together the young people and their families, the schools, municipalities, the non-governmental sector and the business community in a joint platform whose objective is to create healthy living habits.
”The Project, which has already been held for four years, supports and encourages an even greater initiative by schools and families in their efforts to inspire love and desire for sports in their children as the basis for healthy living. This year we note a record number of 2.000 participants. We take this as a proof that the project is wonderfully accepted and that we are on the right path towards creating healthy generations of young people who nurture the love of sports and physical activities”, said Aleksandar Ruzhevikj, General Manager of Pivara Skopje AD.
‘”Regular sport activities and physical exercises represent an excellent method for maintaining the relevant energy balance which results into healthier and happier young people that are full of energy. The Coca-Cola Cup also conveys the message for a fair play, sportsmanship, family socialization and fun, which are values that Coca-Cola aims to convey to the young people worldwide”, said Gjorgji Hristov of the Coca-Cola Company.
Besides the football matches, the finals were enriched with other entertaining, recreational and educational activities intended for the audience, the young people and for their families. The red and white T-shirts, football, laughter, fun and socializing prevailed during today’s event, thereby creating an atmosphere of a true sport happening.
