CONFIRMED LEADERSHIP OF COCA-COLA HBC
The Coca-Cola HBC system, which includes Pivara Skopje, has been awarded an A rating by the CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project), which ranks it among the corporations that make up the list of global leaders in environmental protection and reduction of climate change impact. CDP is a not-for-profit organisation which provides the only global system for companies to measure, disclose, manage and share vital environmental information, motivating them to disclose their impact on the environment and take action to reduce it.
In addition, Coca-Cola HBC has recently been named the global leader amongst beverage companies in the 2014 Dow Jones Sustainability Indices. This additional recognition has been received after more than 2.500 major companies from various industries in Europe and the world have been previously evaluated on the basis of financially relevant economic, social and environmental factors and Coca-Cola HBC ranked first among 30 beverage companies in the world and first among 10 companies in this industry in Europe.
Touching on the awards, Coca-Cola HBC CEO Dimitris Lois said: “We are delighted to be recognized as an industry leaders by these two benchmarks of corporate sustainability performance. Our substantial progress this year in the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices and our rating upgrade to A by CDP demonstrate that sustainability is at the heart of our business. These two awards are a firm endorsement for the entire company and the good work we are doing.”
According to CDP, Coca-Cola HBC deserved the place among the global leaders in environmental protection thanks to the implemented initiatives and investments that directly and indirectly contributed to the reduction in total absolute carbon emissions into the atmosphere of 5.3% compared to last year. Some of these initiatives include the introduction of coolers that do not use atmosphere polluting gases, as well as the investment of 3 million EUR in 2014 in energy-saving programs.

Our real contribution to the implementation of these initiatives can be seen by the fact that all new coolers purchased by Pivara Skopje do not use gases that pollute the environment, and additionally with the investment in a new heating system in our manufacturing plants we have achieved efficient energy saving. We are happy that with these activities and investments we contributed to the whole system of Coca-Cola HBC to be recognized as a global leader in environmental protection,” said the general manager of Pivara Skopje Aleksandar Ruzhevic.
Coca-Cola HBC encompasses companies from 28 countries, including Pivara Skopje AD, which produce brands in the portfolio of Coca-Cola for a market of 586 million consumers in total.
