STATEMENT OF PIVARA SKOPJE ON THE DECISION OF THE COMMISSION FOR PROTECTION OF THE COMPETITION
Pivara Skopje AD was informed that the Commission for Protection of the Competition ruled that certain provisions in specific contracts are in violation of the Competition Act.
Pivara Skopje AD strongly disagrees with this ruling and expresses its overall disappointment with it. Throughout the process Pivara Skopje has fully co-operated with the investigation and shown its good will. We are concerned that the Commission has come to its decision without hearing Pivara Skopje AD’s arguments.
We are also disappointed that the Commission for the Protection of the Competition has imposed an exorbitant fine on Pivara Skopje, which is not in line with the Commission’s previous fining policy and is also out of step with the long-established practice of other competition authorities in Europe and beyond.
Pivara Skopje AD has the utmost respect for the competition rules and is convinced that today’s decision will not hold up in court, to which Pivara Skopje AD will now bring the matter.
Pivara Skopje AD has been present in the Macedonian market for over 93 years and during that period has always acted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of Macedonia.
