PIVARA SKOPJE MARKS WORLD WATER DAY 2021
Pivara Skopje joined the global celebration of March 22 – World Water Day (#WorldWaterDay) traditionally this year too.
“We dedicate this year’s celebration to the value of water as one of the most important natural resources. Pivara Skopje recently received the AWS (Alliance for Water Stewardship) standard certificate, which is a recognition of the company’s previous commitment in finding and implementing sustainable management solutions and complete protection of water resources. These solutions are an integral part of the long-term strategy and efforts of Pivara Skopje for environmental protection and sustainable development“, said Maja Ilievska, Quality Assurance Manager in Pivara Skopje.
As part of this strategy, Pivara Skopje, together with the other members of the Coca-Cola HBC and HEINEKEN groups, has set ambitious goals for sustainable development until 2025, which include those for reducing water consumption, as well as treatment of wastewater from technological processes. To meet these own commitments, Pivara Skopje has invested in the construction of a state-of-the-art bio-wastewater treatment plant, which significantly contributes to the protection of surface waters from pollution. In addition, as a result of continuous investments in this area, the company’s water consumption has decreased by more than 30% in the last 10 years.
For the results achieved in sustainable development and efforts for environmental protection, including those in the field of management and protection of water resources, Pivara Skopje, together with other members of the Coca-Cola HBC Group, last year, for the seventh time in the last eight years, won the first place in the European beverage industry in the leading global business sustainability benchmark – The Dow Jones Sustainability Index.
